Flight cancelled

We arrived at the Clothing Distribution Center at around 5:15 AM this morning to get dressed in our Extreme Cold Weather gear before getting on the plane.  We are required to wear thermal underwear, ski pants, a fleece jacket, the large red parka, gloves and of course, Bunny Boots.  We then had to go through customs, get a boarding pass, show our passports, and have our bags checked for weapons, just like in a regular airport.  After being debriefed on the safety features of the C-141 and

about what to expect during the flight, we boarded the plane at around 7:30.  There were only 17 of us going down on this flight, so it wasn't too crowded in the plane.  But we were only there for about 15 minutes before the crew announced that the weather in McMurdo wasn't good enough to fly, so our flight was cancelled.     After coming back in town and taking a quick nap, I went over to the Botanic Gardens to walk around for a while.  I almost got lost wandering further and further north through golf courses and rugby fields until I didn't recognize anything anymore!  Eventually by following landmarks and signs, I made it back to the city centre in time to go have dinner with Dana and some friends at a little Irish restaurant in town called "The Bog."
So, it's early to bed again tonight, since we have to be at the Antarctic Centre tomorrow at 6:00 for another flight opportunity.
